John Taylor was born Feb.14, 1775 in Forfarshire, Scotland, married Margaret Ramsey in 1801, emigrated to Canada in 1834 with his second wife Jean Smart. He was the author of "The Paisley Block Ball" and died May 6, 1849 in Guelph.
